Can I make these cheap calls from a payphone?
Yes. Please note that there may be a surcharge and call costs may be higher than stated.
Can I use these cheap call access numbers abroad?
No, this service is only available in the UK.
My phone service is provided by a company other than BT. Can I still use these cheap calls?
Yes. Refer to your phone provider for the cost of dialling the access number. Some alternate providers apply a surcharge to premium numbers.
If you pay line rental to BT with call costs to the alternate provider you can still put calls through BT by dialling 1280 before the access number.
Why am I having problems dialling certain rate access numbers?
There are a few reasons why this might happen:
If you dial a code before making each call (for example 1877 for OneTel), just dial our cheap call rate access number without dialling this code before it. This will mean that the calls will be charged through your phone line provider (this is usually BT). If you installed a OneTel Phone.Pal, this should be unplugged. Alternatively, in most cases, you can dial 1-2-1 to bypass the Phone.Pal. If you have selected the OneTel 'Select' option, please contact OneTel to request a code to overide the feature.
Why do I need to press the # button?
Dialling # after the international number lets the system know that you have finished dialling, and will increase the speed of connection. If you forget to press #, you will still be connected.
How much will my call cost?
The rate access number for your selected destination country will be allocated a price by your phone provider.
For example: rate access number for USA = 08449 884 801 = 3p min
This cost is per minute, after VAT.
So, a call to the USA for 7.5 minutes, will cost 7.5 x 3p =22.5p
Most service providers apply a minimum charge or connection fee. Please check with your phone service provider.
What if you overcharge me?
You cannot be overcharged by this service provider. The rates allocated to the access numbers are set by Ofcom. If you have a problem with your bill, please contact your phone service provider.
If you experience further problems, please contact this service provider on their 24 hour customer helpline 0870 0414 004 (calls charged at national rate).
I've had a problem with my bill. What do I do?
Please contact your phone service provider.
I have been charged the full rate on my bill instead of the low cost rate?
There can only be one reason for this. If you have been charged the full international rate, and your international call shows on your bill, you did not dial our rate access number before your destination number.
